Coffee

Sometimes after a three day weekend when you return to work you need coffee more than on any other work day. Last weekend I found the nicest cup of coffee in Dublin, from a stall in a farmers food market. It's probably a long way from Canada to Dublin on a Monday morning for a cup of coffee, but if you like your caffeine then you'll do what it takes to get your hit :-)

  1. Where are those beans from? I like South American varieties myself.

  2. Tea is a much better beverage. I've had one too many bad cups of coffee to be turned from it.

  3. Not sure where they are from, the label was upside down and stuck into the beans. I'll be back there on Saturday and check. African beans are popular here though.

  4. Here's a fun fact for everyone. Tea has more caffeine than coffee by the pound, but a cup of coffee has more caffeine than a cup of tea, as it takes more coffee to make one cup.

Stephen Fry told me so, so it must be true.

  5. I'm probably the only Irish person who doesn't like tea. Forget Guinness Lyons tea was the number one in Ireland for decades. Never did like it, though in college I realized I needed caffeine in my blood so I developed a taste for coffee.

On a side note, anyone interested in how far behind Ireland was on the idea of racism should check out the Lyons Tea Minstrels who were in adverts until 1998. How many other countries thought blackface minstrels were a good advertising strategy 2 years before the millenium?
